Making cookies with Peyton

Hi All!!
It is 10/30/10 and I am watching Kylee and Peyton tonight. We ordered pizza and watched a good movie.
Peyton and I decided to make some oatmeal cookies.  Sounded like a good idea to me!! So we got started. Peyton helped round-up all the ingredients.  I should her how to mix together all of the dry ingredients in a small bowl first and set it to the side, then we mixed the rest of the ingredients, i.e., sugars, eggs, vanilla, butter (that all went very well), then last but not least we added the oats and pecans.
Peyton placed the cookie dough ever so carefully on the cookie sheet and did so well. We put them into the oven and baked them for 11 minutes. When we pulled them out, however, they looked kind of strange--like FLAT cookies and wouldn't even hold together!  So I thought, (having the college educated brain!!) "Well, let's try one more batch".  So we did.
While the second batch was just baking away, Peyton and I took a bite of one of the "cookies".  We looked at each other's faces, and said "These are REALLY BAD!"  I couldn't figure out what the problem was, there was not cinnamon taste, no salt taste--so what in the world was going on?  So I went back into the kitchen. looked at the last of the cookie dough, then turned to check on the cookies in the oven.  Well, folks, lo and behold!! there was the small bowl of the dry ingredients that had not been added to the recipe!!!  It was funny!! We all three had a good laugh, then Peyton and I started all over again and made some real Oatmeal cookies.
Moral of this story, if you are a Grandma and want to teach your grand-children how to bake, be SURE YOU know how to get it together!!!
This will be a memory I will always treasure. Valerie

Welcome all!

Hi Everyone!!
Just decided to jump in and see where this goes.  Would love to hear from family and friends, and if there are others on this small planet that would like to share thoughts, feelings, opinions, knowledge, comments, etc., you are also welcome.  I only ask that you respect the beliefs and feelings of others by not using obscene, hurtful, or obnoxious language.  I believe by the sharing of our collective human knowledge, the world can and will be a better place for ourselves and our children.  Hope to hear from you soon.
